Call for Submissions: Carpe Verba Week 2 invites Submissions on the theme 'Mother'
The Great Indian Review Invites Submissions for Week 2 of Carpe Verba: Celebrating the Spirit of “Mother”
Following an overwhelming and heartwarming response to Week 1’s theme “Memories,” The Great Indian Review, in collaboration with Writers’ Kalam Publishing, now opens submissions for Week 2 of the weekly literary series Carpe Verba. This week’s chosen theme is “Mother”—a timeless word that evokes the deepest layers of emotion, memory, and meaning.
Week 1 witnessed a powerful wave of creative expression, with evocative works pouring in from authors across the country. From poetic tributes to lost times to essays woven with personal nostalgia, participants like Ashika Umesh, Priyanka Bhandarkar, Ashima Syal, and Abhishek Kumar Singh brought the theme to life with heartfelt honesty and literary finesse. Their contributions set the tone for what Carpe Verba aims to be—a movement that honors authentic voices and nurtures literary expression week after week.
Now, as we step into Week 2, the focus shifts to the word “Mother.” From lullabies to legacies, sacrifices to strength, the mother figure has always been central to literature, myth, and the human experience. Whether explored through poetry, prose, letters, or reflections, Carpe Verba invites writers to seize this powerful subject with creative sincerity and originality.
“Mother” can be interpreted in countless ways—literal or symbolic. You may write about your own mother, a maternal figure, Mother Earth, motherhood in mythology, nurturing friendships, or even the idea of motherhood in absence.
